Navy Officer Aptitude Rating Study Guide 2026-2027 for the OAR, Officer Candidate School Test Prep, 200 Practice Questions, Printable PDF

Prepare for the Navy's Officer Aptitude Rating with a complete study guide built around its three subtests: Math Skills, Reading Comprehension, and Mechanical Comprehension. Navy Officer Candidate School applicants often take these three subtests on their own, and aviation applicants take them as part of the full ASTB-E.

This 113-page digital guide combines a focused content review with two full-length, exam-level practice tests. The test is computer-adaptive, so the practice questions are built to the level a competitive officer candidate should expect: multi-step word problems, dense single-paragraph reading passages, and diagram-based mechanical reasoning.

What's Inside

• How the test works: adaptive delivery, no calculator, the 20–80 scale, program minimums, and the three-attempt retest rules
• Math Skills (10 chapters): arithmetic, fractions and percents, word problems, equations and systems, polynomials, quadratics, and geometry
• Reading Comprehension (3 chapters): the paragraph format, best-supported conclusions, and core reading skills
• Mechanical Comprehension (11 chapters): motion, forces, energy, levers, pulleys, gears, fluids, heat, optics, electricity, and magnetism, with labeled diagrams
• Final Review Checklist, study schedules, FAQs, test-taking strategies, and official resources
• 2 full-length practice tests (200 questions) with a separate answer key explaining every answer
