OAR Navy Officer Aptitude Rating Study Guide 2026–2027 | 200 Practice Questions

Prepare for the Navy Officer Aptitude Rating (OAR) with a complete study guide covering all three OAR subtests: the Math Skills Test, the Reading Comprehension Test, and the Mechanical Comprehension Test. The same three subtests make up the OAR score inside the full ASTB-E, so this guide serves both Navy Officer Candidate School applicants and aviation candidates reviewing the core subtests.

This 113-page digital guide pairs a focused content review with two 100-question, exam-level practice tests. Because the OAR is computer-adaptive, strong candidates quickly face demanding questions, so the practice items use multi-step word problems, dense single-paragraph reading passages, and diagram-based mechanical items rather than one-step recall.

What's Inside

• An overview of the current test: adaptive APEX delivery, no calculator, the 20–80 score scale, program minimums, the three-attempt lifetime limit, and the 30-day and 90-day retest waits
• Math Skills (10 chapters): number properties, exponents and roots, signed numbers, factors and multiples, fractions, percents and ratios, word problems (rate, work, mixture, average, interest, probability), linear equations and systems, polynomials, quadratics, and geometry
• Reading Comprehension (3 chapters): the OAR paragraph format, how best-supported-conclusion questions work, how wrong answers are built, and core reading skills
• Mechanical Comprehension (11 chapters): kinematics, forces, work and energy, levers, pulleys, gears and belts, momentum, fluids and hydraulics, heat, optics, electricity, and magnetism, with labeled diagrams
• Final Review Checklist, 1-, 2–3-, and 4-week study schedules, FAQs, adaptive-test strategies, and official resources
• 2 practice tests (200 questions: 35 math, 30 reading, and 35 mechanical in each) with a separate answer key explaining every answer
